Introductions and class expectations: The Teacher will explain what you will be expected to do, classroom procedures, attendance and other information you will need to successfully complete this class for credit.
  • Keep Cornell Notes. (Always title your pages properly)
  • Review Cornell Notes.
  • Complete the Summary for homework.

Course Introduction: Last session focused on short stories, this section will focus on drama.

Reading Section: Review Active Reading Strategies
  • Read pages 564-565 and keep Cornell Notes.
  • Review as a class.

Writing Section: Quick Write - Self Deception
  • People often lie to themselves. They trick themselves into believing something that is not true.
  • Maybe they trick themselves into believing they are nice, when really they are mean.
  • Maybe they deceive themselves into thinking they are good looking, when they are extremely unattractive.
    • Do you agree that people practice self-deception? What kinds of things do people deceive themselves about?
    • Make a list of things people deceive themselves about with a brief explanation for each.

Reading Section: "The Inspector-General" page 566
  • Setting a purpose: What is our purpose for reading?
  • Build Background
  • Choose students to read.
  • The teacher stops students to have them participate in the active reading prompts in the margins.
  • Students write their responses, Cornell Note style, in their notebooks.

Grammar Section: Effective Sentences

Reading Section: "The Inspector-General" page 566
  • Students work in groups of 3 to 4.
  • Students answer 1-10 on page 572
